Advanced Certification Level

The Advanced level requirements listed below are pending and have not been approved by the Texas Youth and Child Care Worker Association.

General description:

The Advanced level certification is currently under development. Advanced level practitioners will demonstrate:

Higher Education and Experience Requirement:
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in youth and child care work or closely-related field that included a supervised practicum in youth/child care practice as part of the requirements for the degree (from a college or university program approved by the Certification Institute) and 4000 hours (two years) of experience in direct care child/youth care practice documented.
Professional Education Requirement:
  • Completion of approved training in ethics documented;
  • Passing score on the Advanced-level Certification Examination documented;
References:
  • Two letter of reference from certified practitioners and one letter of reference from supervisor or college instructor recommending applicant for certification (references must be from at least three people)

  • Or
  • Three letters of reference from co-workers and one letter of reference from supervisor or college instructor recommending applicant for certification;
Membership:
  • Current membership in TYCCWA, TNOYS, TAA, TFPI, TAEYC, or TJDA
Certification and Testing Fee:
  • Payment of $100.00 certification fee to the Certification Institute
Re-Certification Requirements:
  • Re-certification required every two (2) years;
  • Attendance at 15 hours per year of Continuing Education in areas approved by the Certification Institute;
  • Current membership in TYCCWA, TNOYS, TAA, TFPI, TAEYC, or TJDA
