Quality Care

Long Term Goals

It is expected that the Child and Youth Care Work Certification Institute will make a significant contribution to the development of child care practice in Texas. To accomplish this, the Institute will:

  1. Continue to develop and refine a skill assessment system to validate applied competence.
  2. Implement a credentialing system for trainers and training programs.
  3. Expand Board representation of diverse practice areas and consumer groups.
  4. Continue working with the North American Certification Project and colleges to implement a nationally unified education/certification system that supports reciprocity between states and colleges.
  5. Gather additional data to standardize and validate the testing program.
  6. Expand the existing testing program to include other states, provinces, and nations.
  7. Promote the development of scholarship programs.
